This spiderlily was discovered by Dr. Loren Anderson in Franklin County opposite the boat landing at the end of CR 370, bordering Cow Creek near its confluence with the Ocklockonee River, 1 mile E of US 319, 27 April 1991. Anderson 13382 (holotype:FSU)

In 2013 blooming began late in late April and ended by the end of May.
